The mix of apricot preserves, whole-grain mustard, brown sugar, and a splash of apple cider vinegar creates the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. As it bakes, the glaze turns glossy and caramelized, settling into all those little diamond cuts and giving the ham incredible flavor.

It’s a great choice for Easter dinner or any family gathering, especially when you want something that looks impressive but is simple to make. Just warm the ham, brush on the glaze, and let the oven do the rest. Serve it alongside side dishes like cheesy two-potato gratin and a green goddess salad, and you'll have a fresh, flavorful meal everyone will love!

And don’t even get me started on the leftover ham recipes. The next day, we’re piling slices onto sandwiches or serving them alongside eggs for breakfast. Honestly, sometimes I think the leftovers might be the best part!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Step 1
Preheat the oven to 325˚F. Score the surface of the ham with a sharp knife in a diamond pattern, about ¼ inch deep. Stick the cloves in between the diamonds.
  2. Step 2
Place the ham on a rack in a large roasting pan, tent it with foil and bake until warmed through, about 2 hours.
  3. Step 3
Make the glaze: Combine the apricot preserves, mustard, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar and ground ginger in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until thickened, 10 to 12 minutes.
  4. Step 4
Remove the ham from the oven and uncover. Brush with half of the glaze, making sure to get it in the scored lines. Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake until glossy and beginning to caramelize, about 1 hour, brushing with more glaze about every 20 minutes.
  5. Step 5
Remove the ham from the oven and let rest 15 to 20 minutes before carving.
